It definitely can be categorized in the Dark Academia books that everyone has been talking about on booktok, but I am sure it surpasses your expectations. It is a rather compelling novel with many details that go back to Dante and his work, "La Divina Comedia". It is interesting and it really sucks you in into this world of magic and fantasy like this author's books tend to. Took me out of a reading slump, so I may be biased, but the characters and the storyline is so compelling that when I found out, halfway through this book, that there is a second one since it's a series I ordered it without a second thought. One of my top recommendations for anyone interested in sci-fi!
