Great for winter
The book tells of stories of witches and magical creatures which is very fascinating and overall sets the mood of a very snowy and fairytale-y landscape but overall quite slow paced.

A modern fairytale
This trilogy was the very definition of whimsical. The interweaving of history and folklore is done skillfully and with ease. I was charmed by the characters and the storytelling and I am so glad to add it to my favourites. I was lost in the story and completely enveoped by the world and its magic. Vasya is a queen.

When I read the description of the book, I immediately thought that this book would be atmospheric and full of adventure. And of course I was right. This is a fairytale based on the legends of Russia and creates an atmosphere that promises magic and horrors. The writer manages to capture the uncertainty and the superstitions in an amazing way. The characters of the book are described very well and the story that is evolving is both fantastic and magical. The Bear & The Nightingale is a book I enjoyed up to its last page as it brought me into a magical world.
