Epic read!

A bit different writing than the shadow and bone trilogy which is a big plus for me! The found family trope was beautiful and one of my favorite elements in this book! The plot had the perfect amount of action and the heist storyline keeps you interested until the end!

Six of crows

This book was brilliant, the plot, the characters, the word, everything was written and executed so well. I really connected to the characters and their own individual stories. I also really liked that we got to see everyone's point of view in the book so we can understand the characters personality and how they process the same thing differently. The world and the politics were also, to tell you the truth a bit confusing in the begging, but as you continue to read it gets much more easier and once you understand you will see how amazingly the author has written both those things. Lastly I can't say much about the plot without giving away spoilers but the one thing I will say is that you will be at the edge of your seat most of the time.

Six of Crows

This book was magnificent and to tell the truth I don't think I'm able to describe how much I love it! It really made me want to erase any 10/10 stars review I've put jn books and believe me I've read a lot ! ⚜ soc spoilers ahead. Talking about the plot: I have to tell that I really burned many brain cells to understand the ice court heist hahaha! Nonetheless, the plot was amazing with many plot twists! Everyone's backstory was absolutely beautiful and unique with each own kind. I really loved the flashbacks to the past, those little scenes where matched perfect with every chapter and made a huge difference! I have to mention that the scene when Kaz was ordered to take off his leather gloves and revealed his bare hands in front of his crew, was something that really bothered me and disappointed me, I really wanted this to stay and be something between him and Inej. In terms of their chemistry (between Kaz and Inej) I really like how Leigh Bardugh built it. I mean it's really something different than in other contemporary books, it's sweet, innocent; they desire the feeling of being loved and protected by eachother but at the same time they are afraid of this, they are afraid of being someone else's, they are criminals in the end and their pride and stubbornness don't let them reveal those feelings. They maybe are afraid of being known as someone who bent in the name of love. Wylan is the sweetest angel or at least he used to be haha!

WOW READ THIS NOW

''Will it live up to the hype?'', ''Is it overrated?'', ''Is it just characters and no plot?''. I heard these questions really often before starting soc. The truth is I read the trilogy to be well prepared and I had set high standards for this book. I can tell you I fell in love within the first pages of Inej's chapter (after Joost). Because my first language isn't english, just beware that it has kind of a challenging vocabulary. And yes, it was even better then the trilogy. This is one of the best -if not the best- books I have ever read so far, so I'm going to tell you some things in case you are debating reading it. The characters: All the characters have a past, and interesting stories. Each one is different and unique (Matthias is trying). They made me laugh, they made me sad and mad all at the same time. Personally my favorite crow is Kaz, and he is also a bit of a comfort character. What he went through was terrible and it is really interesting to watch him deal with it, to overcome it, letting it haunt him, and trying to put it aside for a person that finally cared, that has also had a terrible past. Wylan and Jesper always made me laugh and Nina and Matthias have such an interesting story. So yes, the characters are everything. The plot: I will try to avoid spilers. The whole journey of the crows getting together, and trying not to kill eachother while pulling off this imossible heist was incredible. The time during the heist (at the prison) was full of action, suspense, and plot twists. I understand it had a lot of flashbacks, but I found that interesting and a good addition to the plot, because the past makes a huge role on how the plot changes, based on how they act and what desisions they make. Also, (to sup up my essay lmao) I loved how Leigh mentioned she has osteonecrosis and had Kaz have a limp, giving something of herself to the story, saying that she gets through it with the right people, it was heartwarming.

I have said it for other books too, but I should have read Six of Crows earlier. I finished it this month and it is certainly a five - star read for me. I loved the story of an impossible heist and I really liked the setting of it. Ketterdam sounds like a lace I would like to see. It has excellent world-building and the story is dark, action packed and with magic and some romance. I also really liked the characters, they are so mixed up in their own way. I love how morally grey all of them are. I was hooked from the beginning and it continued until the last page with many plot twists. I also liked the mention of characters from Shadow and Bone. My favourite characters are Inej and Kaz and I really enjoyed their interactions. Inej has gone through a lot but she has come out strong. Kaz is a very complex character. he is manipulative, smart and an antihero. He also cares for his friends even if he doesn't admit it. I love The Dregs as a group. Their relationships and dynamics are everything. Highly recommend it but I believe most of you have already read it.

No mourners, no funerals

I am beyond grateful that I dived into the Grishaverse and I don't plan on coming back, ever. No matter how many books Leigh writes revolving around the universe, I'll always be there to follow her protagonists and their adventures. This time, I travelled to Kerch where a group of six was gathered to pull off something... impossible! Six very different people, of various origins and with different beliefs sailed all the way to Fjerda (my list favourite place for so many obvious reasons) to get a scientist whose work threatens the Grisha. And of course, no one really cares about my precious babies and one day you're all gonna pay for it. Six of crows was spectacular. I couldn't put it down but this time, I decided to be a better buddy reader and didn't finisht in one night. The book was 495 pages long, but way before the middle I felt as if I had three pages left. So much action, so many emotions, so very strong ships!!! I didn't feel bored or relaxed at any point and thank the Saints I have the second part, otherwise I would get into prison, because I would break the Quarantine and reid every bookstore to get Crooked Kingdom. Leigh Bardugo, you're my 2020 miracle!

Six of crows aka the best book i've ever read

I really do not know where to begin. This was an absolute masterpiece and definitely the best book i've ever read (and believe me,i've read a lot of books). What was the most perfect thing about this book? The characters? The plot? The worldbuilding?Everything? Definitely everything! I very much loved our little crew here, the crows: "A gambler,a convict,a wayward son,a lost Grisha,a Suli girl who has become a killer,a boy from the Barrel who had become something worse" A direct quote and the most perfect sum up of the characters. Each one is so different from the other. Each one is a different race,a different background, and has so many layers. Each one has a handful of amazing different aspects, and things about them that will constantly surprise you. I can't believe i'm about to say this,but....Squad goals! We have Nina, our all-powerful grisha waffle queen who will have you in stitches. Matthias who is this perfectly wounded warrior,a dishonored drüskelle and the one who will surprise the crap out of you. Wylan who is this lovable nerdy cutie-pie that had me blushing for days. Jesper, the sharpshooter and our comic relief. And then there are my two favourites... Kaz and Inej. I just loved these two so much. These two gave me everything I ask for in characters and more. Inej's backround story, appearance, skills...all amazing. And then there's Kaz.Oh,Kaz,! He was my favourite of favourites. His thoughts, his intelligence, his street smarts, his composure, his everything. And,oh my god,the fact that he always planned everything, including every possible thing that could go wrong, with all these backup plans of his....I AM DYING... All these characters and their backstories will shock you and completely steal your heart. And of course, can we also talk a little bit about this perfect plot and this amazing worldbuilding? They are both so solid. Regarding the former, literally, there wasn't a moment in this book where I wasn't on the edge of my seat. Leigh gives you all these twists and turns without leaving you guessing on what your surtoundings look like. What is more, she'd built a world with so many stunning features. All these countries with their politics and Kerch,of course Kerch, with its capital Ketterdam. Oh, Ketterdam,my new home(even though I most likely wouldn't survive five minutes in the Barrel). And,last but not least, our Grisha. Our gifted people with these incredible powers.Just the way Leigh has combined fantasy and science (my two personal favorites) to create this world,it had me immediately. In general,I really do not have anything negative to say about this book. It will probably be stuck into my head for the rest of my life, and I'll be glad about it.I just love it. If you haven't read it yet and these things I mentined above spark your interest,if you are into the kind of anti-heroes and danger and action, then, what are you waiting for? It's definitely worth every star I gave it.

Awesome YA fantasy!

What a blow minding book was that! I read it really quickly and I just managed to stop myself from going to the next book. I have a beta to read and a few more books as part of a readathon I’m doing this month. I will try to get to “Crooked Kingdom” though as soon as possible! In the inspiring world of Grishaverse there is more than Ravka, Fjerda, Shu Han and Novyi Zem. There is Kerch and the city of Ketterdam. Ketterdam is a bustling hub of international trading, so close to Ravka and Shu Han, as well as the rest of the world. Thank’s to its harbors, it welcomes travelers from all over the world, many of them seeking the entertainment available in the Barrel, the pleasure district of Ketterdam. The Barrel is home to the criminal underworld and the rival gangs of the City. The Barrel is home to Kaz Brekker, Inej Ghafa, Nina Zenik and Jesper Fahey. This dangerous lot is out for a heist! Kaz Brekker is clever thief, one known for not being afraid to get his hands dirty, therefore he is also known as Dirtyhands. He is a born leader and one that plans everything into the smallest detail and anticipates and plans for anything that may come up or go wrong. With his abilities he turned the Dregs into a gang to be watched out. Kaz always does things for a reason, as Inej also mentions in the book, so he has a really good reason for wanting to make this crazy and almost impossible heist and this is why he wants the best crew to help him with. Inej the Wraith will be with him of course. He is used to having her on his side, either visible, or lurking in the shadows, she is always there to watch his back and feed him with secrets. Inej is a skillful spy that goes unseen and unheard and therefore she is so successful on what she does. They will need more than that to succeed this job. They will need a powerful Grisha, a Heartrender that can be a bit of a Tailor and a motivated woman. A sharpshooter and a friend is always welcome to such a crew. So Jesper might be a gambler but he is found suit for the job and he can be of great use in the course of it. Unfortunately they are not enough. They are going to Fjerda so they will need someone they can trust, even by using a leverage, and who knows very well their destination. This is where Matthias comes in the view. The former druskelle might be currently imprisoned in Hellgate, but he won’t stay there for long. He will have a few more obstacles to go over in the process though. Going on a dangerous territory, the crew will need a demolition expert. There are a couple of really good demo experts in the Dregs, but Wylan is the one chosen to join the crew. Kaz has selected him for his own reasons, and being a son to one of Ketterdam’s wealthiest families is just one of them. The story is just great. I mean it does sound like something simple, something anyone could write about. It’s a heist and they are a a crew of six to work it out. This is the main plot on a huge number of films and a few books as well. How different could it be? Well Leigh Bardugo has outdone herself and my other authors and screen writers. This is more than just a heist story. First of all the premise is so different and at the same time so familiar. If you have read The Grisha trilogy then you are somewhat familiar with the premise. There is no Darkling and no Nikolai in here. This story evolves few years after the trilogy events, so you won’t see much of The Grisha characters mixing in the story. Also, this is not all around The Grisha and their powers. We see them here, that’s for sure, but not as all mighty, all powerful players. In Ketterdam for example they work for wealthy people or for other facilities. But they are part of the story, a big one that is. Secondly, the characters are amazing! They are so well developed and unique, there was no way one could mix them up. There is background story to each and every one of the, backing up their current actions and their personality. There is so much behind the mastermind of the heist, the cunning Kaz, which is revealed on little doses at different parts of the book, explaining all his actions, feelings and behavior. Same goes also for Inej, Nina and Matthias. We learn quite a bit for Jesper too, but there aren’t many skeletons in his closet. The same goes for Wylan, for which we learn a great deal at the last 50 pages. These last 50 pages feel like a punch. Bardugo creates a cliffhanger at the end of this page turner that makes you want to scream! Most of the readers cannot help themselves from reading Crooked Kingdom the next moment! I had to behave myself, otherwise, I would be writing two reviews today! The whole book was full of interesting plots, action and adventure that kept me going and making me think of what might be coming next. I had no idea how this would end, but when it came to that, I was furious! I you have already read the book or even the duology, then you know exactly what I am talking about. Those of you that haven’t read the books yet, what are you waiting for???

Oh my God, this book!

A real page-turner, truly captivating. Fast-paced plot and action perfectly combined with a detailed world building. The diversity of the characters and the complexity of the relationships between them is on another level! Generally, I just loved how all the characters are corrupted and morally questionable, each imperfect in their own way. The author did a great job with the realistic descriptions of places and depictions of emotions - it was really enchanting. The smart dialogues and deep quotes make it even better!

Bardugo once again did the impossible (improbable!). Even better than the previous Grisha trilogy this one is the first book in a duology that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Definitely a must-read for fantasy lovers.
